Meet our team

Salisbury is one of only ten of England’s 42 cathedrals with their own Works Department.

Our multi-disciplined team is made up of talented stonemasons, glaziers, labourers, a joiner, a plumber, and a technician, all lead by our Clerk of Works and his PA.

Without them, Salisbury Cathedral would not be the same today. Their expert work in maintaining and restoring this historic building is invaluable. Our Works team are also instrumental in maintaining the surrounding close, installing artwork – even putting up the Cathedral’s Christmas trees!

We are proud to run an apprenticeship scheme to ensure valuable heritage skills are passed on through the generations. Our apprentices learn with us for three years, gaining practical experience to earn their qualifications in stonemasonry. Our glazing apprenticeship has been generously funded by the Benefact Trust and others.
