Tour Information

For centuries, Magna Carta has inspired and encouraged freedom movements around the world. Salisbury Cathedral’s Magna Carta is one of only four surviving original documents from 1215.

Join this tour to explore in more detail the full history of Magna Carta, including how it came to Salisbury, stories of its time at the cathedral and why it remains here, including a lovely story of the cathedral’s wartime librarian cycling home with the document in her bicycle basket for safekeeping.

The tour ends with an opportunity to get up close to a facsimile of the document and learn more about additional archival treasures preserved by the cathedral.

Tours run on Wednesdays at 14:00.
The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes.
