Seven Last Words from the Cross

Salisbury Cathedral Choir are joined by a professional string orchestra for their devotional performance of Sir James MacMillan’s moving work Seven Last Words from the Cross.

The traditional text of the Seven Last Words from the Cross is based on a compilation from all four gospels to form a sequential presentation of the last seven sentences uttered by Christ. This intense, moving and expressive work will form part of the Cathedral’s Holy Week liturgical offering.

Other works performed will be: Finzi Lo the full final sacrifice, Halls Elegy for Strings and Forbes L’Estrange Drop, drop slow tears.
