Celebrate this significant milestone in Salisbury Cathedral with a special Festal Evensong marking 800 years since the remains of the Cathedral’s early bishops were laid to rest in the ‘new’ Cathedral at New Sarum.
The service will be led by the Bishop of Sherborne, the Right Revd Karen Gorham, and the Dean of Salisbury, the Very Revd Nicholas Papadopulos. It will feature music from the Cathedral’s girl choristers and Lay Vicars.
This commemorative service reflects on a defining moment in Salisbury’s history, when the centre of worship moved from Old Sarum to the Cathedral that continues to stand at the heart of the city today. All are welcome to attend.
From 12pm-3pm there will be free family craft activities in the Cloisters.
