Be Still: the practice of silence in the Christian tradition

16 Jun 2026 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Overwhelmed by word and sound? The Very Revd Nicholas Papadopulos, Dean of Salisbury, offers a personal account of the essential part that contemplative stillness plays (and has always played) in prayer, drawing on the Christian mystical heritage and on his own experience and practice of it.

Part of the Joyful Noise 2026 Programme

This event forms part of Salisbury Cathedral’s Joyful Noise 2026 series. Also featured in the programme is a talk by Reverend Lucy Winkett: “Our Sound is our Wound: Contemplative Listening to a Noisy World.”

For those wishing to attend both talks, an Adult Saver Ticket is available for £15.
