Choir Recruitment

Does your child love to sing? Would they like to become a chorister?  Becoming part of this ancient, highly regarded tradition affords wonderful opportunities to the girls and boys involved.
Educated at Salisbury Cathedral School, choristers lead full and exciting lives with a weekly routine of practices and services enriched by regular concerts, broadcasts, recordings and foreign tours. Being an integral part of a totally committed team and working closely with colleagues in pursuit of excellence inevitably stands children in good stead for the future and their musical education is unparalleled.
If you and your child would like to find out more, we have produced a film where you can hear the choir, learn more about their daily schedule, and find out how to join them. To watch the film please click here (please note this was filmed pre COVID 19).
Be a Chorister for a Day
The Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral School run a hugely popular choir open day 'Be a Chorister for a Day' each year and there is also a Voice Trial Workshop for those who would like to find out more details about the auditions.
We will be holding our next 'Be a Chorister for a Day' from 13:45 - 18:00 on Saturday 2 October 2021 and invite children in Years 2, 3 and 4 to join us. On the day they will have the chance to sing with the current cathedral choristers, see round the Cathedral School, and then take part in the Evensong service. To book a place on 'Be a Chorister for a Day' please click here.
Voice Trial Workshop - Saturday 4th December
Voice Trials 2022:

Saturday 15 January - Girls (current Years 3 and 4)

Saturday 5 February - Boys (current Years 3 and 4)

We suggest that if you would like to enter your child for the Voice Trials, you bring them for an informal ‘pre-audition’ with the Director of Music in the year before they apply.
During this pre-audition your child will be asked to sing a short song which can be a hymn, a carol or a similar sort of song, followed by some ear tests. This is a useful and non-obligatory way to see whether your child could be a chorister and to ask more about the opportunities available to children who are interested in choristerships.
If you would like to book a date for this or find out more about pre-auditions, please click here to email or call Jojo Orange, Registrar, on 01722 555315.
