The festival brings together the renowned choirs of Chichester, Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals, to offer sacred choral and organ music performed to the very highest standard.

Join us for a unique opportunity to sing under the baton of Sir John Rutter, one of the world’s most beloved composers and conductors of choral music. This special event opens the Festival with a Choral Workshop and Concert in the awe-inspiring setting of Salisbury Cathedral.

From 1:00pm to 4:00pm, workshop participants will rehearse with Sir John Rutter, exploring some of his most popular works alongside members of Salisbury Cathedral Choir, Chamber Choir, Junior Choir, and Youth Choir.

After a break, participants will return at 6:00pm for a short rehearsal, before taking part in the 7:00pm concert, celebrating the theme of “Celebrate Creation!”

Some works will be performed by the Cathedral Choirs alone, while others will include the full forces of our workshop singers – a truly uplifting and collaborative experience.

Join us in the magnificent setting of Salisbury Cathedral for a special concert marking two remarkable musical anniversaries. This evening of sublime choral and instrumental music celebrates the 500th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the master of Renaissance polyphony, and the 400th anniversary of the death of Orlando Gibbons, one of England’s finest composers.

For this concert, the choirs of the Three Cathedrals are delighted to be joined by the renowned Viol ensemble the Rose Consort of Viols; an ensemble with whom we have collaborated successfully in previous Festivals.

The Festival closes with a performance of some of the greatest works of the classical period by Mozart and Haydn. The combined choirs are joined by renowned soloists as well as The Hanover Band. The Band is one of the leading orchestras particularly in this repertoire and this promises to be a concert not to miss.

Wednesday 16th July

13:00 – Choral Workshop with Sir John Rutter
Sir John Rutter is a well-known English composer, conductor, editor, arranger and record producer, mainly of choral music. We are delighted that Sir John is able to join us this year and will open the Festival with a Workshop and Concert in the Cathedral led by Salisbury’s Cathedral Choir, Chamber Choir, Junior Choir and Youth Choir. Book a ticket to the workshop and you can learn from Sir John Rutter, then sing in the concert alongside our choirs.
The Workshop with Sir John Rutter is now fully booked.

This piano concert will feature the music of Maurice Ravel to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth. A visionary French composer, Ravel is renowned for his exquisite craftsmanship, rich harmonies, and masterful ability to evoke emotion through music.

John Challenger with Large Screen (Nave/Quire) Salisbury Cathedral’s Assistant Director of Music plays a concert on the famous Father Willis organ. In this concert, our large screen will be used so the audience will be able to see into the organ loft.
