Exploring Faith

Faith seeks understanding (St Anselm).

The Cathedral offers a wide range of opportunities onsite and online to explore big questions about life and the world.

Talks

We host one-off talks from famous speakers and contemporary writers, as well as addresses and seminars from the cathedral clergy about topics like the Bible and worship.

Regular occasions for extended reflection and teaching include Lent lectures and a summer sermon series. Details about forthcoming opportunities are on the What’s On page of the website.

Groups

An introduction to Christianity is offered at least once a year for adults and young people who are considering Baptism / Confirmation. Please contact Canon Kenneth (adults) and Revd Ross (parents of teenage candidates) for more information.

Reflective Prayer is held at 10am on the first Monday of most months. A speaker will introduce a topic, sometimes with illustrations in art or poetry, leaving silence for reflection and prayer. Please click here to find upcoming events or contact Revd Maggie Guillebaud for more information.

Other groups associated with the Cathedral include a class dedicated to learning New Testament Greek with a view to reading passages from the Bible in the original language, and a termly book group which explores faith through literature but from an ‘outside’ perspective, helping us to see the Church as others see it and learn from that perspective.

Please message us to receive updates about these groups.

Vocation and Ministry

God calls people to flourish and to use their talents in his service. This may include licensed ministries in the Church. If you wish to explore your sense of vocation, please talk to the minister in your local church; regular worshippers at the Cathedral are invited to speak with Canon Kenneth in the first instance.

The Cathedral also delights to support those already engaged in licensed Christian ministry. We welcome visits from Church leaders and groups from the UK and beyond. We regularly host placements of those in training. Please contact Canon Kenneth about this.
