To remember the babies as Baby Loss Awareness Week comes to a close

Salisbury Hospital Maternity Unit will be holding a Wave of Light event in the Cathedral Close by the Angels in Harmony Sculpture.  If raining, the event will move to the Cloisters.
Families are invited to come together and light a lantern to remember their babies on Sunday 15th October. The event is being organised by staff from the Benson Suite.
Lanterns and battery candles will be available and there will be tags to write your own personal messages. Donations will be accepted to the Stars Appeal’s Benson Suite Fund. Those that attended the Wave of Light previously are welcome to bring their lanterns from last year’s event.
During the evening poems will be read and there will be a minute’s silence.
The Benson Suite at Salisbury Hospital, which marked its 10th anniversary earlier in the year, provides a dedicated, private space for local families who sadly experience the death of their baby.
The Benson Suite helps ensure the very short time these families are able to spend together is as precious, dignified and personal as possible.
Your donations enable us to fund further enhancements to the Benson Suite and support the families that sadly need to use it for example by providing a dedicated Stars Appeal Bereavement Midwife.
Families can take their lantern home.
18:45 – Lanterns will be placed together
18:55 – Poems will be read
19:00 – A minute’s silence followed by a poem
