A special morning tour, including a guided talk on the flora & fauna of the Cathedral Close, a walk to Harnham Water Meadows to hear about their fascinating history and a talk from Canon Kenneth Padley about the Cathedral’s current eco plans, working towards reducing its carbon footprint and how it became the first cathedral to receive an Eco Church Gold Award.
 

Outline of the Morning
09:30Gather at Salisbury Cathedral for a guided walk around the Cathedral Close with Heather Olsen, who will explain the steps the Cathedral made towards its Eco Church Gold award. The group will then walk to Harnham Water Meadows via Queen Elizabeth Gardens.
10:45History and Engineering of the Harnham Water Meadows with John Hunter. Enjoy a walk around the flood plain meadows and hear the story of their survival.
11:55 Carbon Reduction with Salisbury Cathedral’s Canon Treasurer, Kenneth Padley. Kenneth will outline measures taken by the Cathedral to reduce our carbon footprint and the planned steps towards net zero.
12:15 Coffee in the Refectory
