All are welcome to join us for this extraordinary, atmospheric service as over 1000 candles are gradually lit, to illuminate the medieval interior, taking us from darkness into light as we embrace the hope of Advent.
Doors will be opened one hour before the start of each service. For those who have attended before, please note the earlier time of the Saturday service this year. No tickets are required for this service.
Everyone is welcome. Entrance to the service is free. When you arrive and join the queue, queue tokens will be issued on each night, to ensure fair access to the Cathedral. Please note that saving seats once in the Cathedral will not be permitted, so members of a group wishing to sit together will need to queue together. Once the service has reached the maximum capacity permitted, it will not be possible to admit any further worshippers, so please arrive in good time. In any event, please be seated by 18.40.
Anyone who is unable to queue in the Cloisters may wait in the Consistory Court (the main ticket desk area leading into the Cathedral). One family member or carer may wait with them. Anyone who is both unable to queue and unable to wait, should contact the Head Verger, Esther Lycett (e.lycett@salcath.co.uk), who will assist in making suitable accessibility arrangements.
