We can’t wait to welcome you to our Cathedral


The regular opening times for visiting the Cathedral are listed below. However, as a living church there are occasions when the Cathedral may close to visitors. Before making a special journey to visit or making a booking, please read the latest closure information further down this page. If you are interested in timings of regular services you can find our timetable here.

Cathedral (Summer opening times):

Monday – Saturday: 09:30 – 17:00 (last bookable entry slot 16:00)
Sunday: 12:30 – 16:00 (last bookable entry slot 15.00)

Magna Carta and Chapter House (Summer opening times):

Monday – Saturday: 10:00 – 17:00
Sunday: 13:00 – 16:00

Refectory Restaurant:

Monday – Saturday: 09:30 – 16:30 (last orders at 16:15)
Sunday: 10:00 – 16:30 (last orders at 16:15)

Gift Shop:

Monday – Saturday: 09:30 – 16:30
Sunday: 11.00 – 16:00

Please note that the Cathedral is a living church and during your visit you may witness preparations and rehearsals for concerts, services and weddings. You may also hear our choristers rehearsing for Evensong or our organist practicing.
