Exclusive 'behind the scenes' tours are now available for both individuals and groups!

Library Tour and Tea

Visit the Cathedral's 15th century Library which contains over 10,000 books dating as far back as far as 9th century. During the tour, a Cathedral expert will show a range of books specially selected to demonstrate the importance and variety of this unique collection. Tours start at 14.00 and last approximately 45 minutes, followed by a delicious cream tea in the Refectory restaurant at 15.00.

Please note that the Library lies above the Cloisters and is accessed via a small winding stone staircase with 37 steps, some of which are uneven. Due to access this tour may not be suitable for some visitors.

Ticket Price: £22 for tour and cream tea

Graffiti Tours

Our expert guides share the findings from an on-going project recording and interpreting the Cathedral's medieval graffiti. Most of the tour is conducted at floor level but a section of this fascinating journey into the Cathedral's past will involve climbing around 70 steps via a spiral staircase to the highest balcony level (triforium). There's also a wonderful opportunity to photograph the Cathedral from the base of the West Window, looking down the full length of the Nave to the East End.

Tickets £12.50 Adults £8.00 Children (7 - 17 years).
