Regular Service Times
We regret that the Cathedral is closed following government and Church of England guidance. Join us for our Daily Reflections live streams at 17:00 Monday - Friday here
Our normal pattern of service is as follows:
08:00 Holy Communion: This is a quiet reflective service following the pattern in the Book of Common Prayer of 1662. It is usually held in the Trinity Chapel.
09:15 Choral Mattins: A 45-minute service of music, readings and prayers, sung by our Cathedral Choir. In school holidays this service is replaced by a shorter service of said Morning Prayer.
10:30 Choral Eucharist: This is our main Sunday service which lasts about 90 minutes and includes a choral setting of the Communion service sung by the choir, hymns and a sermon followed by refreshments. There is provision for younger children during this service, and we also offer the ministry of prayer and healing (every Sunday) in one of the side chapels.
16:30 Choral Evensong: Evening worship from the Book of Common Prayer, sung by the choir, it lasts about 45 minutes.
Monday - Saturday
07:30 Morning Worship with Holy Communion (08:30 on Saturdays): This service lasts about 35 minutes and is usually held in the Trinity Chapel combining Morning Prayer and Holy Communion in the contemporary language of Common Worship. There is opportunity for those who do not wish to stay for Communion to leave the service after Morning Prayer.
Holy Communion (normally 12:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays): Held in the Trinity Chapel.
17:30 Choral Evensong: This is the jewel of our great choral heritage: Evening Worship from the Book of Common Prayer, sung by the choir. It lasts about 40 minutes.
Prayers are said on the hour during the day, providing a couple of moments of reflection in the midst of the bustle of visitors and tourists.
Prayer and Healing
At Salisbury Cathedral we take seriously the call to the laying on of hands with prayer for healing, and the anointing of the sick with oil, and so this important ministry is offered every Sunday during the 10.30am Eucharist during the distribution of Communion. You are welcome to receive this ministry for yourself, or on behalf of a loved one. We also offer this ministry each year at St Luke’s-tide, and during Holy Week.
