Since being back from Christmas we haven’t stopped. Many jobs big and small have arisen. The scaffold on MRA9 is being dismantled on the North and Eastern faces and now shows off all the hard work that we put in to complete before Christmas. The entire mould cutting process has been completed and is now in full flow of being cut on the saw or worked in the banker shop ready for the start of fixing in March/April, you can see some of the stones waiting to go up in the picture.
New scaffolding has gone up in the Consistory Court for work on the medieval plaster and polychrome (coloured paint, literally "many colours") on the ceiling and walls along with any repairs and minor stone replacement that needs to be done to the ribs and doorways and walls.
Away from stone work the masons have also had to apply themselves to painting and decorate the Dean’s office and the Cathedral Shop entrance which both look lovely and fresh now.
That has been the start of 2014 - it looks like it is going to be as busy if not busier in the coming months so keep checking my blog for updates!
