There is a chance to hear Handel’s ever popular Messiah this Christmas as the City of London Sinfonia once again joins the full Cathedral Choir (men, girls and boys) and four distinguished soloists: Ruby Hughes, Robin Blaze, Thomas Walker and Stephan Loges to perform this masterpiece for the second year running.
One of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works of all time, history has it that prior to the premiere performance in Dublin in 1742, the management requested that ladies should not to wear hoops and men to remove their swords to make room for more people. A record seven hundred people attended the performance.
The Cathedral may not have to worry quite so much about capacity but last year’s Messiah was a sell-out, so early booking is advised. Doors will open at 19.00 for on Saturday 9 December in Salisbury Cathedral.
Tickets are £15 and can be bought online here or via Salisbury Playhouse on 01722 320333
