All Souls Requiem

Posted By : John Challenger Thursday 9th October 2014

On All Souls’ Day (3 November), the Requiem and Commemoration of the Faithful Departed will be sung by the Cathedral Choir at 5.30pm. The setting of the Mass is Herbert Howells’ Requiem, a deeply personal work written in the early 1930s but not released by the composer until 1980.

The names of the departed will be remembered during this service (please note the change of date this year). If you have names of the faithful departed that ought to be included on the list of those read out in the course of that service, please pass those names to the vestry as soon as possible in hardcopy, or by emailing, and certainly by 12 noon on Sunday 2 November. Please be aware that the list from last year is not carried over each year, so you do need to tell the vestry each year if there are names you would like remembered.
