From everyone here at Salisbury Cathedral we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! In our last and final vlog of the year we’ve asked everyone what Christmas means to them.

VLOGMAS DAY 24: Twelve Days of Christmas

Today Amber is going for the big one. Since November she has been recruiting teams from across the Cathedral and Close to take part in a mega 12 Days of Christmas sing-a-long. Jumpers and headresses are a must, along with stamina and as Amber says, this could be a long one.

VLOGMAS DAY 22: Choristers' Christmas

Today Amber visits the choristers' boarding house and discovers just how much fun our hardworking choristers have during chorihols, the time when school has finished and they stay to sing in the Cathedral. VLOGMAS DAY 8: Lanterns, Lanterns everywhere...

Today Amber tastes the delights of Salisbury Christmas Market before joining hundreds of lantern bearers lighting the path from the Cathedral to the city as they take part on the the annual Lantern Parade.

VLOGMAS DAY 7: Christmas Lunch

Today Tyler and Amber are Christmas shopping at the Salisbury Cathedral School Christmas Fair in the Cloisters (an annual event) and Amber gets her first Christmas lunch, home-made by the Refectory Restaurant. Please sir, can we have some more?

VLOGMAS DAY 6: The Secret Song Room

Amber explores the secret 13th Century Song Room above the Vestry where the choristers practice! Not many people get to see this space - and no wonder, it used to be the Cathedral's 'vault', where all its treasures (including Magna Carta) were once stored.

VLOGMAS DAY 5: Oh Christmas Trees...

Amber does a special vlog from St Thomas’s Church who hold a Decorated Tree Festival every year - this year they have over 100 trees and nativity scenes on display!

VLOGMAS DAY 4 - A Georgian Christmas

Today our intrepid vloggers venture into the Cathedral dressing up cupboard in the North Transept (used by our Education team) and out into the Close. They've been invited to experience a Georgian Christmas in Mompesson House, a Queen Anne townhouse owned by the National Trust that overlooks Choristers Green... and they're paying a visit in style!

VLOGMAS DAY 3 - Gigantic Puppets

Today Amber helps test one of three ten foot tall puppets being made especially for the Family Service on Christmas Eve. They'll be joined by a real life donkey on the day and will process around the Cathedral. Children can dress up and join the parade, or borrow some clothes from our special dressing up cupboard in the Cathedral. Come along at 3pm, the Family Service is heaps of fun!

VLOGMAS DAY 2: Advent Rehearsal

Today Amber and Tyler show us a glimpse of the work that goes into making major services happen and take us backstage during rehearsals for our recent Advent Processions, 'Darkness to Light'. Starting with a single candle, by the end of these processional services the whole Cathedral is ablaze with the light from 1,350 candles!

VLOGMAS DAY 1: The Star of Bethlehem

Vloggers Amber Rawlings (Marketing Assistant) and Tyler Ringwood-Hoare (one of our Vergers) take you behind the scenes at Salisbury Cathedral as we prepare for Christmas. Today Amber climbs high up into the roof space to discover the secret behind the 'Star of Bethlehem' that hovers above our Spire Crossing. She meets artist Jayson Haebich and the Cathedral's Clerk of the Works Gary Price in the medieval rafters. Back on the ground she learns how she can create her own star, using the iPad near the William Pye font, with Curator Jacquiline Creswell.
