With a strong spiritual affinity to Salisbury Cathedral it would seem undoubtedly fitting for the Royal Army Chaplains’ Department to mark the end of the hundredth year commemoration of World War 1 with a tribute to Padre Theodore Bayley Hardy VC, DSO, MC, on the centenary of his award of the Victoria Cross. Alongside this remarkable and highly unusual achievement, serving Army chaplains will display banners featuring the role of chaplains during the War along with several artefacts dating from the period.
The display will be supported by some interesting original artwork depicting World War 1 conflict. Serving chaplains will be on hand throughout the weekend to discuss the historical contribution of military chaplains and their roles in modern day Service life.
Free, during visiting hours, included in your donation to the Cathedral.
