Christmas Late Night Opening

Wednesday 15th December 2021

18:30 - 21:00
About the event

Get into the festive spirit early and join us for a special late night opening at the Cathedral.

Admire the our spectacular decorations after dark, including the magnificent Renaissance style Nativity and enormous 32ft Christmas Tree. As you wander round, enjoy carols from The Kate Edgar Singers and take in the building's beautiful architecture, which will be lit up by hundreds of lights both in the Cloisters and around the Close.

Families can explore with our specially designed children's trail or take part in our fun crafts workshops too. During the evening, the Cathedral's newly commissioned, child-friendly wooden Nativity figures will also be unveiled. Created by local artist Ray Wirick, children will be able to 'meet' the hand-carved Holy Family and even play with (and sit on) a small flock of sheep.

The Shop and Cafe will also be open throughout the evening for seasonal delights and a spot of retail therapy.

This event is free and no booking or tickets are needed - just turn up on the night.
