Worship & Music
Apart from the festivals of Christmas, Easter, and the Southern Cathedrals Festival, the Cathedral Choir sings only during school terms. There are therefore many occasions throughout the Church's year when we rely heavily on the generosity and enthusiasm of visiting choirs to sing services here. Choirs travel from across the world to sing at Salisbury Cathedral, and we are very grateful for their dedication, and the high standard of singing that is achieved.
Not only is the beauty of the building where people have been worshipping for over 800 years overwhelming, but from the music staff to the vergers, clergy and tour guides, and the catering facilities, everyone was very helpful, impeccably professional and, most importantly focused on the reverence, beauty and importance of the worship.
Our ministry is changed forever by what we experienced at Salisbury. The Ascension Choir is stronger and closer, as are most touring choirs, but, most importantly, we have a new vision of what our service means in the context of corporate worship, thanks to the people of the Salisbury Cathedral.
We are very thankful for all that everyone did to make this such an important and profoundly spiritual and musical experience.
