Closures
Occasionally the Cathedral, or parts of it, may need to close or only offer restricted access for
a service, special event or day to day maintenance. We try to minimise these periods as much as
we can, as we know that people travel long distances to visit us. As soon as we know about a
closure it will be posted below. Please remember to check for last minute changes prior to
your visit as some events, such as funerals, are only arranged at short notice.
10:45am - 12:30pm 1st July 2008
The Trinity Chapel
- The Trinity Chapel will be closed for a funeral service taking place. Other areas of the Cathedral will be open as normal.
10:30am - 12:00pm 2nd July 2008
The Cathedral
- Due to a service taking place there will be limited access to the Cathedral. The Shop, Chapter House (Magna Carta), Restaurant and Cloisters (750 Anniversary Exhibition) will remain open as normal.
2:30pm - 4:30pm 4th July 2008
The Nave
- There will be no access to the Cathedral due to a funeral service taking place. The Chapter House (Magna Carta), The Cloisters (where the Anniversary Exhibition can be viewed), the Shop and Restaurant are all open as normal.
9:45am - 1:00pm 15th July 2008
The Cathedral
- Private Service- the majority of the Cathedral (excluding the West End of the Nave) will be closed to visitors during these hours. The Cloisters (Anniversary Exhibition) and Chapter House (Magna Carta) will remain open throughout the day.
4:45pm - 7:00pm 15th July 2008

- Due to a service taking place the Cathedral will be closed to visitors during this period. The Shop, Restaurant, Chapter House (Magna Carta) and Cloisters (750 Historic Anniversary Exhibition) will remain open as normal.

- Due to a Wedding Blessing taking place, the Trinity Chapel will not be open to visitors during this time. All other areas of the Cathedral including the Chapter House (Magna Carta), Shop, Restaurant and Cloisters (750 Anniversary Exhibition) will remain open as normal.
12:00pm - 2:00pm 27th August 2008
