Closures

Fan ceiling in Salisbury Cathedral's Chapter House

Occasionally the Cathedral, or parts of it, may need to close or only offer restricted access for a service, special event or day to day maintenance. We try to minimise these periods as much as we can, as we know that people travel long distances to visit us. As soon as we know about a closure it will be posted below. Please remember to check for last minute changes prior to your visit as some events, such as funerals, are only arranged at short notice.

 

Thursday 17th April - Maundy Thursday - Eucharist of the Chrism and Re-affirmation of Vows

The Cathedral floor and Chapter House will not open until 2.00pm

 

Friday 18th April - Good Friday -Devotion & Liturgy

The Cathedral floor will be closed to visitors all day. The Chapter House will be open 10am – 4pm

 

Saturday 19th April

Visitors are welcome but no guiding or commentary is permitted. The Cathedral floor will close at 4pm in preparation for an earlier service. The Chapter House will be open 10am – 4pm

 

Sunday 20th April - Choral Evensong at 3pm

The Cathedral is open to visitors from 12noon – 2.15pm

 

Friday 25th April - Service of Thanksgiving in the Quire 2.30pm – 3.30pm

Only the far West End of the Cathedral will be open to visitors between 1.45pm – 3.45pm

 

Monday 28th April - Army Chaplains Wessex Service in the Trinity Chapel 11am – 11.30am

The Trinity Chapel will not be accessible to visitors whilst the service is taking place.
