BRUCE MUNRO CONTEMPORARY LIGHT AND SOUND INSTALLATION: WATER-TOWERS

Bruce Munro contemporary light and sound installation: Water-Towers

From January 15 - February 27, 2011

Installation should be viewed at dusk or in darkness

This spectacular contemporary installation is a maze of 69 huge towers located in two of the cathedral's majestic cloisters. It has been created by Bruce Munro, who installed Light Shower in the Cathedral's main Nave in November.

Made of stacked recyclable water bottles and illuminated with fibre optics powered by energy-conserving LED lamps which change colour in response to special selected music, 'Water-Towers' creates an amazing multi-sensory experience. Although open throughout the day, like 'Light Shower' it is best enjoyed in the late afternoon once the light has started to fade, or at night, when the changing colours can be seen and fully appreciated. View from across the Cloisters or walk through the maze as the music and changing lights surround you.

Water-Towers can be seen in the cloisters from 8.30am – 6.15pm daily until 27 February.
Light Shower is at the Spire Crossing in the Catheral's Main Nave and can be seen 9.30am - 5.15pm daily until 27 February.

Late evening viewings: the Cathedral and cloisters will be open until 8pm on a number of evenings during this period to give visitors an extra chance to enjoy the installations during the hours of darkness. The Refectory Restaurant will also be open for light refreshments.
