Posted By : Marie Thomas Thursday 24th September 2015

Trevor and Susan Branch from Awbridge, Romsey, have each recieved a St Osmund Award for their services to Salisbury Cathedral and its community.

Susan, who manages the Cathedral flowers day-to-day and was responsible for the logistics behind this year’s highly successful Magna Flora Flower Festival, received her award alongside her husband, Trevor, who is Head Server at the Cathedral. The award was presented to them by The Very Revd June Osborne, Dean of Salisbury at the Cathedral Community Forum AGM in Salisbury Museum on Sunday.

The St Osmund Awards are given annually at the discretion of the Dean to one or two lay supporters, recognising outstanding contributions to the life of the Cathedral not just over a single year but over a number of years. They are given to those who, through their dedication and passion, have enhanced the spiritual life of the Cathedral and encouraged its community spirit.

The Very Revd June Osborne, Dean of Salisbury said: "Trevor and Susan are unflagging in their exemplary and outstanding service to the Cathedral. They have again and again proved the value that our lay community bring to this wonderful place. They always go the 'extra mile' with good humour and using their not inconsiderable skills – and they make a great team. We are very lucky to have them!”

Sonia Woolley, current chairman of the Cathedral Community Forum said: “Between them Susan and Trevor do so many things and wear so many hats! As well as everything else Susan is a legendary cake-maker, producing excellent cakes for all and any occasion! It is wonderful that individuals like these arecognised in this way. So many from the community do so much, so quietly. We all know Susan and Trevor well and they thoroughly deserve the accolade!”
