I'm making this interim post just to share the news that as of Sunday the 18th of May the Cathedral has its first peregrine chicks in 61 years.
People on the last tower tour of Saturday reported the birds were still sitting on eggs, when I went up on Sunday afternoon I was absolutely delighted to see the three chicks. One is slightly smaller than the others, but they all seem to be being fed.
The RSPB will be coming in in about three weeks' time to ring the birds and I should be able to give you more information and pictures then; the picture at the top of this blog has come from our CCTV screen at the top of the tower, which is why it is unfortunately a little grainy, but of course we can't go out where they are as it would scare them away.
Visit the RSPB website for further information on peregrines.
