Come along and meet the Cathedral's archivist and listen to an enjoyable talk about the fascinating finds within Salisbury Cathedral's archive material:
- A 12th century manuscript book written by the scribes at the Cathedral’s previous site at Old Sarum. This is one of a collection of 60 books originating from Old Sarum and subsequently transferred to the new Cathedral. These books are ‘the oldest collection of Norman literature still with its original owner’.
- ‘The Golden Legend’ by Jacobus de Voragine. A very early printed book in English from 1493 and decorated with woodcuts of the saints.
- A limited edition facsimile of the Book of Common Prayer issued in 1896 on handmade paper of the original 1549 Book published during the reign of Edward VI. Our copy is number 20 of the ‘Best Edition’.
No need to book please come to the North Transept talk included in your donation to the Cathedral.
