Come and join us for a day celebrating our iconic Spire over the last 70 years.   Over the last year our volunteer research team have been investigating the Cathedral archive to find out more about the history of the Spire in the twentieth century.  From fire watching to fundraising, preservation to peregrines there has been a lot happening and we’d like to share it with you on this day.

Each session will be looking at a different topic or period such as:  past ongoing maintenance, the 1950s restoration, the 1980s fundraising appeal, and the presence of birds.

15:00 - 16:00:  Share Our Spire

Come and join us for a session bringing together the results of the volunteer research group over the last year in the Cathedral archive.  We will be playing some of the clips from our oral history interviews of people involved with the Spire and looking at some of the stories we’ve uncovered in the archive.  Please come and share with us what you know about the Spire – all contributions very welcome!

10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00: Memories Booth.

We’d love to add your memories and stories of the Spire to add them to our archive.   What does the Spire mean to you?
