Our Link with the the Episcopal Church of Sudan
The Salisbury Diocese has been linked to the Episcopal Church of Sudan for forty years. As part of the ongoing relationship, mutual visits take place to provide considerable support for projects involving advocacy, education and medical aid. In June 2013 a celebration of the first forty years of the link took place in Salisbury.
In a referendum in January 2011, the people in the south voted to separate and form an independent new state. On 9 July 2011 South Sudan separated from Sudan and became an independent state. Violence and civil unrest continues in both countries and in this Cathedral we pray regularly for fruitful and co-operative relationships, stability and peace for the two countries and all who live there.
The Episcopal Church of Sudan continues to minister in both Sudan and South Sudan, bringing to all people its message of hope.
